Devon Rex Cat
This strange looking cat is the “E. T.” of the moggy world. It has short, wide-cheeked face, big low-set bat wing type ears and sculpted body. Do not think that this makes the cat ugly. It also has a great sense of mischief and a pixie-like disguise! This creature was first discovered in Devon, England, in 1960, near  Cornwall where the first Cornish Rex kitten was born in 1950. The Devon Rex is an intelligent and extroverted cat that makes affectionate and ideal pets. With one  you will have a friend for life. They will wave their tails when they are happy – most of the time actually – and they are quick and alert  and have a natural inquisitiveness that only further enhances their likability. It is a great creature to have in the home of anyone who has allergies or asthma as it possesses a low allergenic “poodle-like” coat that is low maintenance and sheds few hairs and so makes cat ownership a possibility. Because its coat is extremely low maintenance it does not afford the same protection as a normal coat and so this breed of cat do need to be kept cool in summer and warm in winter! To compensate for their lack of guard hairs, the Devon Rex has a slightly higher surface body temperature than other breeds – so making them live lap and foot warmers.
